The ICH Israel Center
A registered nonprofit founded by volunteers, we work with tradition bearers, communities, educators, and researchers to keep Israel’s living heritage visible, respected, and accessible to future generations. The Center operates independently and on a nonpolitical basis.
What Is Intangible Cultural Heritage?
Intangible cultural heritage is the living side of culture: the traditions, songs, dances, crafts, rituals, and know-how that communities recognize as their own and pass from one generation to the next. It gives each community a sense of identity and continuity, and it encourages respect for cultural diversity.
